xPatterns Computer-Assisted Coding
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has mandated the transition from the medical coding standard ICD-9 (International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision) to ICD-10 by October 1, 2013.
This transition will require monumental business and systems changes - estimated at $2-$3 billion industry wide - throughout the healthcare industry for all parties covered by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
There is an acute need for solutions that enable healthcare providers to increase the efficiency and accuracy of their coding process to save time, streamline resources, and optimize billing returns.
ICD-10 compliance require significant investments, including updating and integrating IT systems, developing documentation, and training. Each of these deliverables are a significant manual task for coders, administrators, and medical personnel in all health provider organizations.

xPatterns Computer-Assisted Coding (C.A.C.) alleviates the financial and compliance burden of transitioning to ICD-10. xPatterns C.A.C. will:
- Show corresponding ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes in a dual view application
- Improve accuracy of coding service to reduce miscoding and under-coding
- Decrease rejected claims with improved clinical documentation
- Train medical personnel, coders, and administrators in highly complex code classifications
xPatterns C.A.C. also streamlines the education and compliance process with clinical support documentation:
- Access each specific text description within an EMR that generated an ICD code
- Archive user activity for administrative training and audit support purposes

Advance Research & Development
Medical records are voluminous, full of industry jargon and terminology, consisting mainly of text-based notes. Finding relevant content in the overwhelming volume of data is no simple task. xPatterns C.A.C. offers a solution to help unlock clinical documentation to extract relevant data and reveal new insights for:
- Clinical decision-making
- Improved patient care
- Reduction in overall healthcare costs
By combining expansive sets of data sources found internal and external to your organization, xPatterns powers the discovery of complex and indirect associations between entities which can be used for clinical decision making, leading to improved patient care and a reduction in overall healthcare costs.
