  • To apply for this post applicants must have completed graduation degrees like BCA, BA, B.COM, B.SC, and BE/B.TECH and must have scored a minimum of 60% marks in graduation.
  • The applicant’s Age limit to apply for this post should be between 20-30 years, This age criteria is meant only for general candidates.

Selection Process For PO Posts

Before applying for the Probationary Officer post you need to decide whether you want to get selected by a government bank or a private bank. Because both the selection process and exam pattern are different in these banks. There are two ways to become a Probationary Officer in a government bank. Through these two exams, SBI PO and IBPS PO we can become managers in banks.

SBI PO Exam is conducted only for State Bank PO Posts. But to become a Probationary Officer in any government bank other than a state bank you have to participate in the IBPS PO exam. IBPS is the national organization that conducts the selection process in 11 government undertaking banks, like the Bank of Maharashtra, Punjab National Bank, and other government undertaking banks.

There are different procedures for becoming a Probationary Officer in private sector banks. The selection process of PO posts in private banks varies from bank to bank, but today we will only discuss how to become a manager in a government undertaking banks through the IBPS PO exam.

The selection process for Probationary Officers in government banks is generally done in three stages. The first stage is the preliminary exam, the second step is Mains exam. After qualifying these two stages, candidates are selected for the third stage. Where candidates have to go through an interview, group discussions, and document verification.

Stage 1- Prelims Exam

In the First stage prelims exam is conducted which consists of MCQ questions of a total of 100 marks. Each question is worth 1 mark i.e. total of 100 questions have to be faced. The prelims test is taken based on 3 subjects. There are 30 questions from the English Language, 35 questions from Quantitative Ability, and 35 questions come from Reasoning Ability. 20 minutes are allotted for each subject i.e exam duration is 60 minutes ie 1 hour. All questions are objective types, and if you answer 4 questions wrong 1 mark will be deducted as a negative marking.

Stage 2- Mains Exam

The Mains exam consists of two papers, paper I and paper ll. Paper l contains objective-type questions and paper ll contains subjective-type questions.

Paper l: objective-type

The first paper of Mains exam carries 200 marks which consist of 155 questions. Where there are 45 questions from Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, 40 questions from General Awareness, 35 questions from English Language and 35 questions come from Data Analysis & Interpretation.

Paper ll: subjective-type

Paper ll is taken after paper l, which consists of subjective type questions and only 2 questions are asked; one is Letter Writing and another is Essay Writing. Paper 2 carries 50 marks for SBI PO and 25 marks for IBPS PO.

Stage 3: Interview

Those who qualify for the prelims and mains exam are called for the third stage i.e. interview. A total of 100 marks are allotted for the interview for PO posts. To qualify for the interview, 40% marks are required for general candidates and 35% marks for SC, ST, and PWD candidates. The final merit list of those who have qualified and been selected at all stages is updated on the official website.

Salary of Bank Manager

A bank manager’s or Probationary Officer’s salary starts from 45000 rupees and goes up to 85000 rupees, the figure varies from bank to bank. Salary generally depends on banks and job locations. Besides, other extra allowances like DA, TA, HRA, CCA, and Medical Allowance are also given separately.
